Skitouring Patagonia … Sample some of the best skiing in Northern Patagonias Nahuel Huapi National park and around Fitz Roy in the Glacier National Park all the way in the South.

We use Bariloche as a base for our tours in the North and El Chalten for the same in the South. Skiing from hut to hut in the North and to the top of Cerro Tronador, the highest peak in the park. Than discover the wild Patagonia while skiing with your IFMGA – mountain guide in El Chalten.

We stay in nice Hotels and enjoy the atmosphere of Patagonias mountain huts.

Tour Itinerary:

Arrival day

Airport pick – up in Bariloche and dinner with your local IFMGA – mountain guide to talk about the tours.

Day 1: Cerro Lopez

From Nahuel Huapi Lake and the small village of Colonia Suiza we walk and skin up to the top of  Cerro Lopez. Great views over the lake basin and towards Cerro Tronador.

5 Days in mountain huts

Day 2: Refugio Frey

Today we reach Refugio Frey situated above tree line. It’s next to a Lagoon and surrounded by Granit needles. This place offers many great options for ski touring lovers.

Day 3: Skiing around Refugio Frey

We ski this backcountry area today and enjoy the great atmosphere of the hut.

Day 4: Refugio Frey to Refugio Jakob

Traverse to Refugio Jakob which lies a couple valleys to the west. On the way there we can skin up to Tres Reyes peak.

Day 5: Skiing around Refugio Jakob

Ski tours in this area with many options to ski some nice peaks like Cuernos del Diablos or Cela.

Day 6: Refugio Jakob – Bariloche

We ski back to Bariloche but not before exploring some more areas like Laguna Negra or we tour back towards Cerro Catedral.

Cerro Tronador

Day 7: Bariloche – Refugio Meiling

We head into the heart of Nahuel Huapi National park today with a 2 hrs drive to Pampa Linda. There we start hiking up to Refugio Meiling. A mountain hut on the foot of the glaciers that cover Cerro Tronador.

Day 8: Cerro Tronador / Pico Argentina 

An early start and a great Glacier tour with some mountaineering on the top. Cerro Tronador is the highest peak in the National park so you can expect an amazing run dow back to Pampa Linda.

Day 9: Volcano Casablanca, Chile

You can not leave the lake basin without skiing a volcano just over the boarder in Chile. This peak lies on the other end of Nahuel Huapi lake and is well worth a visit on skis.

Second part of the trip to Southern Patagonia

Day 10: Travel to el Chalten 

Flight from Bariloche to El Calafate (2hrs) and transfer to El Chalten (2hrs). Meet with the local IFMGA – mountain guide to talk about the program of the next four days.

Day 11 – 14: Ski days in El Chalten

Enjoy the great mountains around El Chalten during your 4 – day stay here. Cerro Vsepignani, Paso Superior, Cerro Electrico are options to name a few.

Included in the Fee:

Organization, 13 guiding days with IFMGA – mountain guides, all accommodations as mentioned above with full board based on double occupancy, all ground transportation in Bariloche an El Chalten, lunches

 

Not included in the fee:

Flights, Transport from El Calafate airport to El Chalten and back, beverages, personal insurances (we strongly recommend that you purchase insurance to cover you for cancellation, medical expenses, personal accident, personal baggage, money and public liability.


 How to get to Bariloche:

Fly to Buenos Aires international airport (EZE) and than take a 2hrs flight to Bariloche (BRC). Several flights daily from the national airport in Buenos Aires (AEP) and also a couple flights from the international airport (EZE).

Flight to Bariloche:
The Flight from Bariloche to El Calafate is not included in the fee. We will advise which flight to buy so that all skiers can travel together.

Changes of itineraries are subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control including, weather, road or trail conditions and flight schedules.
