Discover one of the hidden gems of the French Alps on this beautiful 5-day hut-to-hut trek in the Mont Blanc region, circling the spectacular Val Montjoie valley. Far quieter than the classic Tour du Mont Blanc, this route offers a perfect blend of mountain refuges, panoramic alpine trails, wildflower meadows, glaciers, and authentic mountain culture. The route combines moderate challenge with breathtaking scenery and cozy refuge stays.
The Tour du val Montjoie will plunge you into a wild and preserved natural environment. In addition to the Contamines Montjoie nature reserve, you will cross several protected natural areas.

Hiking Itinerary
Day 1 – Saint-Gervais / Les Houches → Refuge de Miage
Begin with the iconic Tramway du Mont-Blanc to Bellevue before hiking through alpine pastures, crossing the suspension bridge above the Bionnassay glacier torrent and ascending the beautiful Col de Tricot (2,120m). Arrive at the charming Miage mountain refuge surrounded by dramatic peaks. (It’s also possible to start in Les Houches with a cable car ride up to Bellevue).

Day 2 – Refuge de Miage → Refuge de Tré-la-Tête
A scenic stage through mountain pastures and forests with stunning views of the Dômes de Miage and the upper Val Montjoie. Keep an eye out for marmots and chamois along the way.

Day 3 – Refuge de Tré-la-Tête → Chalet de Roselette
A beautiful day through spruce forest, waterfalls, alpine plateaus and traditional mountain landscapes. Pass the historic Roman bridge and enjoy incredible evening views over the Mont Blanc massif from Refuge des Prés.

Day 4 – Chalet de Roselette → Refuge de Croix de Pierre
One of the most spectacular days of the trek. Cross alpine cols, scenic ridges and breathtaking balcony trails with panoramic views over Mont Blanc. Reach Mont-Joly (2,525m) with unforgettable 360° mountain scenery.

Day 5 – Refuge de Croix de Pierre – Megève
Descend through alpine meadows and forest trails into the wonderful village of Megève, where a terrace drink, spa, or delicious local meal awaits.
