Japan Powder Ski Trip

A ski trip to Japan means world-class powder skiing!

The Hokkaido resorts benefit from Siberian weather systems. That ensures huge amounts of light dry powder. Japan is a fascinating country with an interesting history and unique traditions that will captivate you. Wheather it’s the food or the relaxing hotsprings “Onsens”, one thing is certain: A ski trip to Japan is one you will never forget. Let’s go to Ja-Pow!

Experience Onsen / Hot Springs

Onsen (natural hot springs) are popular right across Japan. Every prefecture in the volcanically active country from the cold north to the tropical south has its share of springs.
They come in many varieties. Separated gender and unisex, developed and more natural, indoor and outdoor. All hot springs have a relaxing effect on the body and mind. Many onsen are differentiated by the various health benefits associated with the type of minerals dissolved in the water. A visit to an onsen, is a highly recommended experience for anyone on a journey to Japan.

Tokachi Mountains – Our favorite place for ski touring and wild Onsen

There are no ski lifts in Central Hokkaido’s Tokachi Mountains. They get plenty of amazing quality snow and offer arguably the world’s most reliable backcountry powder skiing. There is consistently good snow from mid-December through to mid-March. We will access the great snow with touring bindings and skins. That means we deserve more onsen rewards, and fortunately there are plenty! Little lodge onsen which are invariably open to the snow on one side at least, to total wilderness ones that we can take you to.
