Day 1. Arrive at Bariloche (2930ft)
We pick you up at the airport in Bariloche (Northern Patagonia) and drive you to the Hotel (30’) at the Nahuel Huapi Lake.
If there is enough time, we hike to the Cerrito Llao (3363ft), a well hidden viewpoint over the lake and mountains. Very good forest trail.

Day 2. Cerro Goye (5348ft) and Cerro Bellavista (5906ft)
After a 20’ Minutes shuttle, we start at the small town of Colonia Suiza (900m), where the first Swiss people saddled. We reach height walking through a Lengas forest and along a river. Maybe the Condors come to visit us while we enjoy the view over Bariloche and towards Chiles volcanos.
This hike is on a forest trail and some more rocky parts on the top of the mountain with great views. Afternoon Tea at the beautiful Bellavista Tea house on the Lake shore.

Day 3. Villa la Angostura, Bosque de Arrayanes
We drive around the north shore of Nahuel Huapi lake to Villa la Angostura (1h). A catamaran brings us to the Arrayanes National Park, the only Arrayanes (Myrtle) forest in the world. Enjoy a walk through the forest along the half island where Walt Disney got inspired to write Bambi. This trail is a very good forest trail and is all about getting to know the Arrayanes forest and the Valdivian rainforest.

Day 4. Villa Lago Meliquina
A short drive along the famous 7 Lakes route brings us to Villa Lago Meliquina (1h). This is a small quiet town right at the lake. We hike to Cerro Ventana (Window) and in the Lago HuaHum area through some private Estancias. Today will be a hike in the Patagonian steppe, that means hiking on pampa grass land in the wide open.

Day 5. Estepa, Estancia
We drive the windy road over Paso Cordoba (1h). A special hike in a typical Estancia in the Patagonian steppe desert, on the banks of Rio Limay river and the Enchanted valley (valle Encantado). Surrounded by volcanic rock formations that built incredible figures such as lions, castles and towers. This particular phenomenon gives its name to “Valle Encantado“. This is an off the beaten track kind of hike, exploring the towers and caves of this beautiful area. Some parts are a bit rocky.

Hike to the heart of the Nahuel Huapi National Park

Day 6. Isla Corazon, Piuque Huapi Island
The private shuttle brings us between Lago Mascardi and Lago Gutierrez (30’) where we start our walk through very dense forests to the Isla Corazon (Heart Island) viewpoint. A heart shaped Island in the Mascardi Lake that can only be seen from our hike. A not very well explored but beautiful and tranquil area in the Patagonian woods. Today we might have to cross some streams and maybe get wet feet. (The trail is mostly in the forest. Possible boat pick up to shorten the hike).

Day 7. Pampa Linda, Refugio Meiling
We drive further into the Nahuel Huapi National park to the foot of the old volcano Tronador (30’). A hike up to the Refugio Meiling brings us very close to the glaciers that are fed by Cerro Tronador. The first part is in the forest with huge Lenga trees. After getting above tree line there are great views to Cerro Tronador, 5 different glaciers, amazing waterfalls and deep blue lakes. Drive back to Bariloche (2h).

Second part of the trip to the south:

Day 8. Flight to El Calafate, Hike El Chalten
A morning flight (2hr) brings us from Bariloche to El Calafate in southern Patagonia.
(We will give you information about which flight you should book at the time of your booking. To ensure our itinerary t’s important that the whole group books the same flight!)
Drive to El Chalten and check in at the Lodge (2h). In the afternoon we hike from El Pilar to the Poincenot Campground and visit the Laguna de los Tres or Laguna Piedras Blancas. This hike is on a forest trail and offers great views to Fitz Roy.

Day 9. El Chalten, Loma del Pliegue Tumbado (1.535m)
A 20’ drive brings us to the base of a great mountain, a viewpoint more than 1000m above El Chalten.  Glacial valleys and Lago Viedma will be lying deep below us. On a good day we will be able to enjoy Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre while eating our Snack on top of the mountain. This hike is in the open Patagonian steppe land and the upper part is a bit rocky.

Day 10. El Chalten, Laguna Torre Base Camp
We hike to the basecamps of Cerro Torre and can add the Laguna Sucia if the weather is nice. After the hike we leave El Chalten behind and drive back to El Calafate (aprox 2.5h).

Day 11. Los Glaciares National park with Perito Moreno Glaciar, El Calafate
After departing from El Calafate, you will make your way with the private shuttle to the park and the site of the Perito Moreno glacier (1,5h). Here you can appreciate majestic views of the imposing glacier and embark on a 45-minute boat cruise along a glacial lake on the south side of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Get up close to the impressive south wall, with sheer ice topping at up to 200 feet.
Next, you will walk along the footbridges in front of the glacier.
Drive back to town (1.5h) and relaxing afternoon in the little town of El Calafate with an optional visit of the birds reserve.

Chile with it’s amazing Torres del Paine National Park:

Day 12. Transfer to Torres del Paine 270km
We leave El Calafate early and drive over the border into Chile (3-4h). On a hike into the Park from Hosteria Mirador del Paine to Lago Pehue we can see the stunning Torres for the first time. Most of the hike is in the wide open land and offers great panoramic views.

Day 13. Torres del Paine, Base of the Towers
The route to the base of the Torres is certainly one of the most rewarding in the park. The hike sets off from the Laguna Amarga entrance in the National Park and reaches the Paso de los Vientos (Pass of the Winds).
Having ascended through this difficult terrain and battled against the winds you will arrive at the lookout where you will have the classic, breath-taking view of the Torres del Paine. Soak up the magnificence of the Torres del Paine and descend along the same trail to the starting point at Laguna Amarga. Open land, grassy rocky trail.

Day 14. Torres del Paine, French Valley and Pehoé lake crossing
A catamaran brings us in a 30 minute journey across Pehoé Lake. Now we set out along the trail that passes by the Paine Grande and along the shores of Skottsberg Lake.
The French Valley viewpoint is situated in a natural amphitheater and is one of the best places in the Park to enjoy a panoramic vista of the surrounding mountain landscape. Returning along the same trail you will be treated to another Pehoé Lake crossing where you will once again be able to bask in the glory of the landscapes of Torres del Paine. Open land and good hiking trail.

Day 15. Transfer to El Calafate airport
Morning Transfer to El Calafate (3-4hrs). Flight back home from El Calafate (FTE) airport to Buenos Aires (AEP). We can give you a recommended flight time and more information at the time of your booking if you would like to fly home from El Calafate. You can accept the arrival in El Calafate around 1-2pm.

Flights are not included in your tour.
Clients are responsible for arranging and paying for their air transportation to/from South America. We recommend flying into Buenos Aires (EZE).
Also you are responsible for arranging the domestic flights from Buenos Aires (AEP) to Bariloche (BRC) on day 1 and to get back from El Calafate (FTE) on the last day of the trip.
On day 8 of the itinerary we travel from Bariloche, Argentina (BRC) to El Calafate, Argentina (FTE), clients are also responsible for arranging and paying for that flight.
We will attempt to coordinate so that everyone is on the same flight on day 8! Please contact us before booking your flight.
