“Spaghetti Tour Monte Rosa” is the name given to a traverse of the Monte Rosa group and it’s most beautiful 4000m peaks starting and ending in Zermatt, Switzerland or also ending in Gressoney, Italy.

With four overnight stays in mountain huts on the Italian side, this is a magnificent itinerary on the great plateau of Monte Rosa. Enjoy mountaineering, glaciers, great food and let yourself guide from a professional IFMGA-mountain guide.

And by the way why is it called “Spaghetti-Tour”? Because those mountain huts cook the best Spaghettis you will ever taste..!

5 Days – 4 nights

Monte Rosa mountain chain in the Swiss Alps. Most of them will be climbed during the Spaghetti-Tour with Patagoniatiptop.

Itinerary

Day 1: Breithorn 3814m – Refugio Ayas

We meet at the train station in Zermatt and take the cable cars up to Klein Matterhorn and the Breithorn pass (3814m). We climb to the summit of the Breithorn 4164m, our first 4000er. A quick descent take us below the Central Breithorn, the Roccia Nera and Pollux and we go on to Verra Pass. From there, in about an hour we descend to Refugio Ayas (3,400 m) for the night.

Day 2: Castor (4200m) – Refugio Quintino Sella

We go back up to Verra Pass, and the start of the route up the west face of Castor (4200m). The view from the summit is magnificent! Ranging from the Gran Paradiso to Mont Blanc and from the Po Valley to the Swiss 4000-ers.
From the summit we descend down to the Felik Pass and the Felik Glacier and on to Quintino Sella hut (3585m) for a delicious dinner and the night.

Day 3: Naso de Lyskamm (4272m) – Refugio Gnifetti

We climb steep up to the Naso de Lyskamm(4272m) today and go on to Refugio Gnifetti (3647m) for the night.

Day 4: 4000-ers – Refugio Margherita

Today we have a chance to climb a couple beautiful 4000-ers like Vincent Pyramide(4215m), Balmenhorn (4167m), Parrotspitze (4432m), or Ludwigshöhe (4341m). We spend the evening and night at Europe’s highest mountain hut, Refugio Margherita (4554m).

Day 5: Zumsteinspitze 4563m – Zermatt CH, or back down to Gressoney IT

Depending on the conditions, your guide will choose the best itinerary for today, either going down to Zermatt or Gressoney.
