Then cross over Maloja Pass into Italy and cap off the trip on the shores of stunning Lake Como.

Arrival Day — Milano / Zürich
Arrive in Milano or Zürich this morning and board a train to the charming Alpine village of Zermatt, off-limits to cars. Check in to our hotel and gather for a welcome dinner and orientation about the hikes.

Day 1 — Zermatt / 5 Lakes Hike
The Five Lakes Walk takes us from Sunnegga to Riffelalp, passing by five mountain lakes on the way. You will be captivated by the reflection of the Matterhorn in the waters and by the many colourful alpine flowers around the lakes. Leisee and Grünsee lakes are great spots for a refreshing dip. In the afternoon we take a train up to Gornergrat with great views over Glaciers and many 4000m peaks. Admire a gorgeous vista that includes Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and the Gorner Glacier.

Day 2 — Zermatt / Hörnli Hütte (3260m)
After a cable car ride up to Schwarzsee we start our hike to the newly renovated Hörnli Hütte. The hut at the foot of the Matterhorn where climbers start their ascent to the famous Horn. While eating a hearty lunch at the hut we can enjoy the Alpine feeling and the views over the valley. A visit to the Matterhorn Museum, where a local mountaineer and Alpine historian will recount stories of early attempts to conquer the Matterhorn and other climbing adventures is a great way to finish that day.. Day 3 — Glacier Express train / Pontresina
Take your first-class seat on the world-famous Glacier Express and set off on a breathtaking journey across three high-mountain passes, over 291 bridges, and through 91 tunnels. Enjoy the elegant atmosphere of the train as we soak up magnificent vistas of skyscraping, glacier-glazed peaks on our way to St.Moritz in the Upper Engadin Valley.

Day 4 — Piz Languard 3262m / Pontresina
We hike up to one of our favorit 3000m peaks of the Alps. Why is it our favorite? The views to Bernina’s Bianco Grat and over Engadin’s lakes are beautiful. Take the rest of the afternoon to visit the Segantini Museum, dedicated to the Alpine artist Giovanni Segantini or explore Pontresina.

Day 5 — Hahnensee – Fuorcla Surlej / Corvatsch
The lakes here are called Lejs and we will pass 3 small mountain Lejs until we reach Hahnensee Restaurant where we stop for a delicious lunch and enjoy the views over the Engadin lakes. From there we climb up to Fuorcla Surlej and get to see the glaciers, peaks and Bernina mountain massif. A cable car brings us back down.

Day 6 — Via Panoramica Val Bregaglia / Soglio
A spectacularly scenic high-level trail through the Val Bregaglia. You follow old paths through light mixed forest, over solid granite slabs and always with views of mighty granite spikes of Piz Padile touching the sky on the other side of the valley. Giovanni Segantini was almost certainly sitting in the garden of the Hotel Palazzo Salis when he claimed that Soglio was “the gateway to paradise”. Soglio is an enchanting village of 300 souls in the Bergell region, also famous for its flowers.

Day 7 —Moltrasio, Italy
A spectacular drive through Alpine valleys brings us into the Italian Lake District. The countryside along the lake is dotted with villas in hues of terra-cotta, pink, ochre, and gold, and strewn with tropical vegetation and lush gardens. Our destination is the lovely village of Moltrasio, perched on the western shore of the vast and beautiful Lake Como. Settle into an art nouveau resort and spa overlooking Lake Como.

Day 8 — Moltrasio / Hiking Lake Como area
A hike with great views over lake como and Bellagio area. We have plenty of hikes to chosse from. Along the lake or high above the trea line or a mix of both. Depending on weather and interest we plan a great itinerary once we are in the area. A favorit is the hike along the “La Dorsale del Triangolg Lariano” trail from Bellagio to Bocchetta di Terrabiotta. From there you can enjoy the best views of the Triangolo Lariano, the triangle between the 2 southern legs of the lake.

Day 9 — Lake Como Explorer
Soak in the beauty of Lake Como’s lakeside towns. Discover Como’s historic center, its sunny piazzas, and the Como Cathedral on a private tour. Continue to the delightful town of Bellagio and explore at leisure. Visit the grand gardens of Villa Monastero, first founded in the 12th century as a Cistercian monastery. Later, relax on the hotel’s terrace, taking in the view before we meet to celebrate our journey at a lakeside farewell dinner.

Day 10 —Milan / Zürich
After breakfast, transfer to Milan’s Malpensa or Zürich Airport for your flight home.

St. Moritz originally rose to importance because of its healing mineral springs and healthy climate, which have been appreciated for over 3,000 years.
The famous painter Giovanni Segantini, as well as poets and philosophers could not do without them in their day. Likewise for the hikers and sunworshipers today. The panoramic view of the lake plateau and the surrounding mountains is captivating. There are few places in Switzerland where you can immerse yourself in this Alpine feeling to such an intense degree and with as little effort as here.
